Windows 7 End Of Life: Are You Ready For January 2020?

In 2014, Microsoft stopped distributing Windows 7, however, they continued to support users with issues as well as, automating security updates and patches.

In January 2020, Windows 7 will reach end-of-life – currently, computers running Windows 7 operating system are not being manufactured or sold, but support and automated security updates are available from Microsoft on these workstations – all support will stop in January 2020.


Can I pay extra for Windows 7 updates after the deadline?


These updates will not exist.

Your operating system may still work after January 2020, but it will not be supported by Microsoft or protected against cyberattacks. January 2020 onwards, all computers running Windows 7 will be vulnerable to malware, cyberattacks and data breaches.


How do I know If I’m using Windows 7?

Firstly, you need to check which Windows operating system you have running on your work station.


1. Select your windows key, right-click on computer and then select properties


2. Your Windows edition will be displayed at the top

If I have a Window 7 systems, what should I do?

Replace it with Windows 10.

With the deadline being in less than a year, your IT Support Provider should already be discussing a plan of action to replace any computer which is running Windows 7.
