National Apprenticeship Week 2020

The HBP Group (HBP Systems & Kamarin Computers) have always been an advocate of apprenticeship learning. Our current Managing Director, Joanne Dixon, started with HBP as an Apprentice and worked her way through many departments before taking on the Managing Director role in 2007. As a company we have seen first-hand how influential apprenticeships can be for career development that’s why we offer an apprenticeship programme.

We currently employ Apprentices right across the HBP Group, one of those is Gintaras Pagaciauskas who is working at Kamarin as one of our Apprentice Software Support Technicians. Our apprenticeship schemes allow the team to gain hands on experience working with software, developing their skills and dealing with on the job logistics.

“I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship scheme as it teaches you the skills you need for specific job roles which are more relevant.

The team here at Kamarin have been fantastic from day one, welcoming, friendly and there’s been plenty of social events outside of work for me to get involved with too.”

Amy Davies looks after our People Department, she’s also a Local Enterprise Advisor for the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership. Part of Amy’s role at the HBP Group is focusing on how we can bring in a new generation of apprentices across all types of job roles in the business. Our aim is to encourage young people to consider that higher education isn’t the only option available to them.

Amy Davies, HBP Group People Advisor

“Being an Enterprise Adviser is a great opportunity, not only to promote the HBP Group, but being able to help support local schools and colleges promote the benefits of Apprenticeships and the career opportunities available to them once they leave school.

For us, in the IT Industry, it’s also important to encourage more girls to look into a career in technology and the opportunities this may lead to.

It’s great to build on strong working relationships with the local community to show an insight into the HBP Group and what we have to offer as an employer.”

We are currently recruiting for our apprenticeship scheme at HBP Group so if you’re looking to start your career in IT and Software, get in touch!
